What These Terms Cover
These Terms apply only to the booking, payment for, and conduct of a Consultation made through the Website. The Consultation is capped at a maximum duration of one (1) hour and does not, of itself, constitute a costs agreement, retainer, or engagement for any further legal services.
Any legal services beyond the Consultation — including further advice, document review or preparation, negotiation, or representation — are provided only under a separate legal engagement. That engagement will proceed strictly in accordance with the Legal Profession Uniform Law (NSW) ("LPUL"), the Legal Profession Uniform Law Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules, and the regulatory requirements of the Law Society of New South Wales, including written costs disclosure and a signed costs agreement before any such further work commences.
No Solicitor-Client Relationship Until Engagement
Booking a Consultation, submitting an enquiry form, or making payment through the Website does not, of itself, create a solicitor-client relationship between you and Legally Ready. A solicitor-client relationship, and any associated duty of care, arises only once Legally Ready has:
- conducted a conflict check and confirmed it can act;
- issued a costs disclosure and/or costs agreement compliant with the LPUL (where required); and
- you have accepted that costs agreement in writing (including by email).
Until that point, information provided by you through the Website, by email, or during the Consultation is treated as preliminary and provided for the purpose of Legally Ready assessing whether it is able to assist. You should not treat anything said during the Consultation as final legal advice on which you may act without further written confirmation.
Nature and Scope of the Consultation
The Consultation is a paid discussion of a maximum duration of one (1) hour, intended to allow Legally Ready to understand your circumstances and provide preliminary guidance and, where appropriate, a scope and fee estimate for further work. Where a matter requires more time than the Consultation allows, Legally Ready will identify this during the Consultation and, if appropriate, propose a separate legal engagement to address it.
The Consultation is not a substitute for formal legal advice tailored to a fully instructed matter, and is not designed or intended to cover the full scope of any matter within a single hour. Preliminary guidance given during a Consultation is based solely on the information you provide at that time and may change once full instructions, documents, and searches are obtained. Legally Ready accepts no liability for outcomes arising from reliance on preliminary guidance given during a Consultation, to the extent permitted by law.
Eligibility and Suitability
Legally Ready's practice areas are limited to those described on the Website from time to time (including commercial and construction contracts, employment, cross-border Brazil–Australia matters, and personal asset protection instruments). Booking a Consultation does not guarantee that your matter falls within Legally Ready's areas of practice, jurisdictional competence, or current capacity. Legally Ready reserves the right to decline to proceed following the Consultation, including where a conflict of interest is identified, without obligation to provide reasons beyond confirming that it cannot act.
Fees and Payment
The fee for a Consultation is as stated on the Website or booking platform at the time of booking, and is inclusive of GST where applicable. That fee covers a Consultation of up to one (1) hour; Legally Ready is not obliged to provide time beyond that hour within the same session, and any request to extend or continue the discussion will be addressed either by a new booking or, where appropriate, under a separate legal engagement in accordance with clause 1. Payment is required at the time of booking via the payment method offered on the Website. Consultation fees are separate from, and are not automatically credited against, fees for any subsequent engagement unless expressly stated in writing at the time of booking.
Cancellation, Rescheduling and Non-Attendance
You may reschedule or cancel a Consultation by providing at least 48 hours’ written notice by email to lavinia.rangel@rangel-law.com.
- Cancellations or reschedule requests made within the notice period above: full refund or credit toward a future booking, at your election.
- Cancellations or reschedule requests made after that period, or non-attendance without notice: the Consultation fee is forfeited and no refund will be issued.
- Legally Ready will use reasonable endeavours to give you as much notice as possible if it needs to reschedule or cancel a Consultation, and will offer an alternative time or a full refund in that circumstance.
Conduct of the Consultation
Consultations are conducted by videoconference, telephone, or in person, as agreed at the time of booking. You are responsible for ensuring you have a suitable environment, connection, and any documents referred to in your booking enquiry available at the scheduled time. Legally Ready is not obliged to extend a Consultation beyond its booked duration.
Confidentiality and Privilege
Legally Ready will treat information disclosed during a Consultation as confidential in accordance with its professional obligations. Legal professional privilege may attach to communications made for the dominant purpose of obtaining legal advice, but privilege is a legal test applied on the facts and Legally Ready does not warrant that any particular communication will be held privileged, including in circumstances where no engagement subsequently proceeds.
Where Legally Ready determines it cannot act (for example, due to a conflict of interest), it will not use confidential information disclosed during the Consultation for any purpose other than that conflict assessment, and will not act for an opposing party in the same matter using that information.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Legally Ready's liability arising from or in connection with the Consultation, and any preliminary guidance provided during it, is limited to resupplying the Consultation or refunding the fee paid for it, at Legally Ready's election. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy conferred by the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Legally Ready's professional indemnity insurance and the LPUL liability capping scheme (where applicable) apply to the provision of legal services under a formal engagement, not to the Consultation booking process itself.
Intellectual Property
All content on the Website, including text, structure, and materials provided during or after a Consultation (such as summaries or fee proposals), remains the intellectual property of Legally Ready unless otherwise agreed in writing. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use such materials for any purpose other than your own personal or business use in relation to your matter.
Privacy
Personal information collected through the Website and during the Consultation is handled in accordance with Legally Ready's Privacy Policy, published on the Website, and the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Third-Party Booking and Payment Platforms
Bookings and payments are processed through Calendly and its integrated payment provider. Legally Ready is not responsible for the availability, security, or functionality of Calendly or its payment provider, which are subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
Complaints
If you have a concern about the service provided, please contact Legally Ready directly at lavinia.rangel@rangel-law.com in the first instance. Unresolved complaints concerning legal services may be referred to the Office of the NSW Legal Services Commissioner.
Amendments
Legally Ready may update these Terms from time to time. The version applicable to your booking is the version published on the Website at the time you make that booking.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and each party submits to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
